Episode 11 - Pan-fried Vegan Meaty Prawn Dumplings | 煎素雞肉蝦餃

There's no better way to celebrate Vesak day than uploading another vegan recipe ;)

This week, I'm showing you how to make my version of vegan meaty prawn dumplings!
The great thing about dumplings is that they taste divine no matter what sorts of filings you put in them.

Watch the video tutorial here:

Recipes for download:

There are different ways to cook the dumplings and in this video I'm pan frying them but you can boil, steam ,deep fried or even make them into pot stickers. The options are limitless.

It's also interesting that if you're using a different type of skin wrapper and fold them in a different way they're called wantons!

Stay tuned, I'm definitely going to come up with different variations of dumplings soon!

J.

Episode 9 - Vegan Okonomiyaki | 全素什錦燒

Hellooooooo,

I'm back with another vegan recipe :D

Today, we will be making okonomiyaki. What's best about this recipe it's that you can throw in whatever vegetables you have in your fridge and it will taste as good.

As I'm making this recipe vegan friendly, i wont be adding eggs in the batter. Instead, we'll just use 2 ingredients for the batter - flour and water. As long as you cook it long enough you wont taste the flour at all.

Watch the video tutorial here:

Get the recipe here:

The sauce that I'm using in this recipe is my make shift okonomiyaki sauce.
I adore this sauce as it's simple, quick and hassle free.
However, do let me know if you would like to see me make vegan Japanese Worcestershire/ Takoyaki/ Okonomiyaki sauce.

If you're interested, you can check out my other vegan recipes at here and here.

J.

Episode 4 - Peanuts & Mushrooms Congee | 花生香菇粥

Helloooo ~

How have you been?! Gone for two weeks to prepare for my exams and the exams are finally over and so I'm back! :))

Here's the good news about this recipe :
1. It's VEGAN
2. It's another ONE POT recipe
3. It's QUICK and EASY

You know how much patience it takes to make smooth velvety porridge because the rice takes FOREVER to break down. I've been trying to find ways to shorten the process and a few years back i came across this trick while watching some cooking show on TV. Ever since then,I've been using this method whenever i cook porridge.

Find out the trick on how i make this porridge in less than 30 minutes :

As usual, the English and Chinese recipes can be downloaded here:

Just in case you're curious, this is the mushroom seasoning that i use in my recipe:

You can purchase it from vegetarian food suppliers or vegetarian food stores.
The ones that were sold in NTUC are made in Malaysia (more bland) and those above are from Taiwan.
Mushroom seasoning is often used in Asian vegetarian cooking as it's way better than MSG and it has lower sodium content than salt. Most importantly, it does magic to the food that you're making. (just kidding, but it's true - it really does make your food taste better. Sometimes i even use them when i make western dishes =X)

That's all for today, I hope you have a great week ahead!

Smiles,
J
